Why isn't second hand smoke in households where there are children under 18 illegal? If they are under 18, they can't be an adult, so they can't consent to being in that environment... so they are almost forced to deal with their health being affected?

If it isn't obvious, I'm against allowing second hand smoke in households where there are children under 18. Why is it even an issue?

They are working on it with 3rd hand smoke. That said what wont you prohibitionists use the children to outlaw on private property?

Why isn't it illegal to feed kids only mac and cheese and no vegies? Why isn't it illegal to not feed a fat kid pizza and candy until that fat little turd stops whining for his junk food? Why isn't it illegal to make kids go for a ride around the block before playing Wii for 6 hours?

Lets see you have successfully prohibited smoking in public institutions and private business. Working on prohibiting smoking outside of private and public insitutions. Now you want to prohibit it in a private citizens home if they have a kid.

If you prohibit everywhere people can smoke what do you think that makes you?

No different than a person who wants to ban pot, meth, or cocaine.

It's certainly an interesting debate, such as, shouldn't pregnant women be banned from smoking? If they smoke while pregnant, do we send them to jail?

I have a fundamental belief that people can do what they want as long as it doesn't significantly affect someone else.

So I'm supportive on banning smoking in public places unless the smoking occurs in a separate room, and I fully support people smoking in their own house as long as everyone in the house can consent to being okay with it legally.

I don't want to ban pot, meth, or cocaine. I actually fully support personal pot use, though I don't use it myself. But use it in a place where it doesn't affect anyone else.

Actually there are states working on legislation that ban smoking in cars where children are present.

It's about time. Hot-boxing children in a car with an adult feeding them carcinogenic fumes needs to be against the law.

I don't think they'll ban it at home, but I wouldn't be surprised if parents who do smoke around their kids get a little more scrutiny from DCFS.

Coming next, charging parents with child endangerment for speeding with kids in the car,
Child abuse for letting them eat unhealthy foods,
Child neglect for letting them watch TV or play video games
Child abandonment for taking them to babysitters while the parents work.

Yeah I can just picture him peeking into his neighbors bedroom window to make sure they aren't smoking with kids in the house.

You would hope that intelligent adults would realize the danger of second hand smoke to others and either quit for the kids sake or at least go outside or designate a room the kids can't go into. I don't smoke but I respect a persons right to smoke if they want to as long as it doesn't effect others.

You can do whatever you want to yourself. I couldnt care less. :)

Just don't affect others. Is it really that bad of a request?
