Second Dell laptop, second LCD problem...venting my anger

This is the second time that a dell laptop of mine has messed up (same problem)
Basically the LCD screen goes very dim, and you can't see anything.

Now I have to send in my laptop, which will take upwards of 10 days to repair. Considering I need it for school, this is a huge pain in the ass.

never getting another dell again.

Anyone else experience this problem?

i just had this with my brand new 8500 series.. is that yours ?

they send me a new screen, took 5 min to change it out, the backlight burned out some how.. my new notebook only had about 8 hours on it

I have an 8200.

Hmm, so you asked them to send you the screen, rather than shipping your laptop to them?
Did they have instructions on how to install it? I think I may phone them and ask them to ship it, much less of a hassle than having to send the laptop to them.

That's why I like IBM, they'll fix that kind of problem and have it back to you in 3 days max (1 day shipping there, 1 day fix, 1 day shipping back).

hmm. i dont remember the 8200.. i had a 8100 and 8500 before.. the 8500, on top of keyboard, it snaps off, u unscrew 2 screw on bottom and remove the cable an swap the screen
