Kirstjen Nielsen Out as Trump’s Homeland Security Secretary

While being a bucket of lies and garbage that would make Beelzebub blush, Kirstjen just couldn't get the number of immigrants down to zero, so out she goes.

Trump is going to continue to push camps and other means that are meant to discourage people fleeing other horrors, and his apologists will continue to talk about how asylum seekers are not humans or whatever else is it that keeps this fascism train running on their racist hate.

Toot toot!

Brace for impact!

edit: Apparently, the country is full. Probably just going to add a No Vacancy sign on the Wall.

LOL and he had just pulled the ICE nominee to go with someone tougher. Apparently sexually abusing kids and putting them in concentration camp cages isn't hardcore evil enough.

East German border guards shot to kill. Why can't we be more like East Germany? We're so weak. The East Germans are laughing at us.

Her resignation letter and that NY Times letter from a few months ago from the insider use a lot of the same writing structure...

For sure. There is certainly a special place in hell being reserved just for her.

I, for one, welcome DHS Secretary Ivanka Trump.

I'm sure she'll institute a kinder, gentler form of sadistic treatment on those folks seeking asylum from south of the border. I'd prefer Melania though. She already got that wicked disciplinarian look on her face that would be perfect for the job. All she needs is that bifurcated black/white hair-do and she could easily be cast as the next Creuela De Vil.

I kinda feel sorry for her.
Seems everything and everyone Donald Trump touches turns to crap.
And so... yet another life ruined.
I think Donald should replace her with Sarah Sanders. Sanders sure scares the crap out of me.

Politics House Homeland Security Chair Hails Nielsen's Resignation, But Says Border Crisis Is On Trump

It didn’t take long for House Homeland Security Committee Chair Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) to celebrate the resignation of Homeland Security secretary Kirstjen Nielsen — but he placed full blame for the “humanitarian crisis” at the border on President Donald Trump.
“Hampered by misstep after misstep, Kirstjen Nielsen’s tenure at the Department of Homeland Security was a disaster from the start,” Thompson said in a statement issued by the committee Sunday. “It is clearer now than ever that the Trump Administration’s border security and immigration policies — that she enacted and helped craft — have been an abysmal failure and have helped create the humanitarian crisis at the border.”
He accused Nielsen of being “unable to lead and stand up to the president for his misguided, wall obsessed anti-immigrant agenda.”
However, the congressman added: “We cannot allow her to serve as a scapegoat for the situation at the border. Let me be clear, President Trump is to blame for making the situation at the border worse. His terrible and cruel policies have broken families apart and have caused chaos in our immigration system.”
Thompson presided over an acrimonious Homeland Security Committee hearing last month when Nielsen was attacked for allowing the detention of migrant children in cages after they were separated from their parents during Trump’s controversial “zero tolerance” policy. (She also falsely denied such a policy existed.)
Nielsen denied children had been kept in cages, contradicting photos from detention sites. “Sir, we don’t use cages for children,” Nielsen told Thompson. “I’ve seen the cages,” the congressman snapped. “I just want you to admit that the cages exist.”

Let's call her resignation what it is. Another one of Trump's sycophant sock puppets had their usefulness played out to its miserable humiliating end and made Trump look the actual fool he is for putting her in that position in the first place.

The biggest problem with Trump's appointees is that they must not be able to appear more intelligent than Trump, nor are they supposed to actually be competent enough to where Trump feels threatened by their abilities to show him up. So what we taxpayers end up with is wholly unqualified apparatchiks instead of those independent minded sharp witted individuals that can do their jobs well and be able to motivate their underlings to come up with ideas that benefit the taxpayers of whom they actually work for.

In addition, these patsy's also need to be able to masterfully cover up or walk back Trump's constant fvck-ups without contradicting him in any way, shape or form and be able to fully blame themselves for any "miscommunications" or "misunderstandings" that occurred in the process of providing cover for their boss.

That is some kind of job description but it seems to be a standard form that Trump hands out for those seeking to work for the guy.

From the New York Times :

The president called Ms. Nielsen at home early in the mornings to demand that she take action to stop migrants from entering the country, including doing things that were clearly illegal, such as blocking all migrants from seeking asylum. She repeatedly noted the limitations imposed on her department by federal laws, court settlements and international obligations.

Those responses only infuriated Mr. Trump further. The president’s fury erupted in the spring of 2018 as Ms. Nielsen hesitated for weeks about whether to sign a memo ordering the routine separation of migrant children from their families so that the parents could be detained.

In a cabinet meeting surrounded by her peers, Mr. Trump castigated her repeatedly, leading her to draft a resignation letter and to tell colleagues that there was no reason for her to lead the department any longer. By the end of the week, she had reconsidered and remained in her position, becoming an increasingly fierce supporter of his policies, including the family separations.

Trump doesn't have a border plan, except to do whatever he can to make sure that the border is still an issue going into the next political campaign. It seems...Nielsen was actually trying to take her job seriously - that was never her job. Her job was to be cruel to migrants so that it provoked outrage from the "left" and cheers from his base, which she's done already. But Trump and Miller need to keep this issue alive going into 2020. Finding an actual solution that resolves the border crisis means political suicide for Trump. Which is why we can expect more mistreatment and attempts to break the law.

The president is deliberately encouraging his cabinet to break the law. He absolutely does not care what the laws say, what the Constitution says. He knows what he is doing (on so many fronts) is patently illegal. He knows it, and simply does not care. If anything, Trump, like many aspiring strongmen, delights in flaunting the law and says it as a direct challenge to the power of the opposition. He is daring his opposition to stop him.

Some of us wanted to believe that electing a Democratic House would rein him in a little, and it has in terms of his ability to achieve what he wants through the usual legislative process. But the law will not stop him. Only consequences will stop him. Only popular will can stop him. He blinked over closing the border because he ultimately accepted that it would be politically dangerous. Same for Obamacare. But he will find things that are outrageous to us but not felt directly, and he will do it to inflame the debate, which is what he wants and needs going into 2020's election.

Trump is unlike any other presidential incumbent in recent memory in that he has decided that he needs polarization as a strategy to win re-election. He assumes (probably correctly) that it's too late to try to rebrand himself as a bipartisan, or as someone who can cross over and appeal to moderates and minorities. Trump needs culture wars to win. Trump needs to light the fire of rage under his supporters so that they'll have something to vote for in 2020. Don't expect this to get any better.

He's pretty much the defacto Homeland Security czar for the time being. That should scare everyone. He wants to end nearly all immigration (incl. legal) unless you're explicitly sponsored for a white collar job. Expect the inhumane treatment of migrants and asylum seekers to get worse somehow.
