Her time at HSS has been costly. She once was a respected Governor and vice Presidential candidate. Now nobody in their right mind would want her on a ticket. She won't starve but I don't know that she has a future in public service. I wonder if she'll write a tell all book and throw Obama under the bus after 2016? Wouldn't surprise me

That's a good point. Her service to Obama will guaranty her good jobs with like-minded people if she wants them, but the debacle killed any political future.

I don't see how she can throw Obama under the bus, but I'd bet good money there are some names she'd love to drag through the mud.

My guess is she'll want to write a book for two reasons:

1) Money

2) To restore her reputation. That's the big one. Egos in DC are huge

In order to restore her rep she'll have to blame someone else for all these problems. My guess is she'll say that she asked for X, Y and Z from the White House and they didn't give her what she needed to get the job done. Bashing Obama will be popular by 2016. Hillary will be the new bandwagon to get behind and no one will want to be tied in w/ Obama

The point is that wars always end. Government programs do not. In fact they just keep expanding.

And, sorry, the past of $750 a month health plans was not the alternative,.. it was what we wanted to move away from.

There is a difference in a plan that you pay $750/month and still have to have $3500 before any real medical costs are covered and also may have to change MDs because your MD is not in the plan you are forced into (by costs)

For those that had no insurance previously; there is the added benefit of no-previous conditions as a filter.

The old plan were $350/month but you chose your MDs and still had the $3500 deductible. The difference is the MD and co-pays for Meds.

What you have is another example of robbing Peter to pay Paul.
Take money from 100M working families and hand it to the 10M families.

Unfortunately her agency isn't the only one using underqualified contractors (CGI, eg) to manage their databases. It's just that in this particular case she's accountable because the public also had to deal with it rather than just the agency's employees.

If the glitches from 2013 were resolved very quickly; then why was the cut-off date rolled back multiple times.

The explanation was that the system was unable to process the information entered properly and/or under load.

That is "resolved very quickly"?


Those glitches were because they either never clearly defined the specs and/or tested the system (and surely not even under load).

Those glitches were because they either never clearly defined the specs and/or tested the system (and surely not even under load).

Yeah, and? It's not some sort of a race. It's an open enrollment period for people to sign up for insurance. The issues got resolved in a couple months, and the deadline got delayed by a couple months so people who wanted to sign up could sign up. For a project of this magnitude to get delayed a couple of months is nothing. I bet you can't even tell me what year Medicare started without googling it, much less which month. You think that in a few years anyone is going to give a sh!t that Obamacare open enrollment got delayed a couple months?

They were not politically driven, they were driven by getting as many people as possible to sign up. That is good for rates in exchanges. The only one politicizing this are Republicans who want Obamacare to fail.

No leadership, nobody actually paying attention to what was being done, and lack of actual knowledge. The people building (who were in charge) just didn't give a shit if it worked or not.

The thing came pretty damn close to getting scrapped and rebuilt.

Then they did what they should have at the and brought in a bunch of highly skilled people who looked at it and worked there ass off and got it fixed.

That's an excellent point, and it goes beyond politics. Such companies will always have ties to whatever political party and people are in power, simply because that is their business model.
