Haha my ex-girlfriend is one of the swing dance groupies that goes 6 days a week. Some of them are fun to dance with. They (like everyone else) will always be happy to dance if you ask them. There are a lot of people that go every week who aren't in the clique.

The best thing to do is to take classes. You'll see the same people every week for five weeks. If you haven't taken classes yet then take them ASAP. I guarantee it you will like it. Take them at the century with Mark and Darla. They are absolutely awesome.

It's not too hard to get newcomers to come back, especially if you're decent at dancing.

new girl: "you're pretty good, this is fun"
you: "if it's fun then you should come again next week, I'll be here"

See how easy it is?

You obviously haven't followed the OP's threads. Socially inept, fugly, no money and moving out of Seattle to his parent's basement. And any advice given, he will have an excuse why he's not able to do it.

Taking classes costs a lot of dough. Same for all the events where the good dancers are. If I had a lot more disposable income then it would be something I would consider. Also, I am not bad at it. I just can't find partners in the scene too often that I dance well with. This comes from either A) too many newbs(100% not good to dance with rate) and B) too few intermediate/advanced (50%-75% not good to dance with rate).

It's not a matter of either one of us sucking. It's just how they learned to dance or how I dance. The connection... You probably heard whoever your ex rant to no end on that.

Btw, Darla is pretty awesome. She's fun to dance with. She's just not someone you get to dance with often though at Century. (She teaches the intro lesson then evaporates)

Tell a starving kid in Africa go to a 5 star restaurant in France. Then when he tells you that he doesn't have the money or means to do so that he is just making up excuses.
You suck at this. Seriously.

A lesson comes out to $4 more than a dance. They frequently have a band playing, which means the difference between the two is $1.

I'm not paying that much for an hour long lesson. (Another reason I don't like going to Century is that you can't work door shifts) I don't think I have ever paid that much for any lessons. I think the most I ever paid was $5 for an hour long lesson.

And they do not have bands playing that frequently... I avoid dances where there are bands.

Holy shit, your are something else.

Nothing's perfect. Deal with it.

Fail.

I don't have the disposable income to shell out money on nearly worthless lessons. I am not going to learn anything from most lessons except maybe advanced workshops.

What is this?

Current instance of the object? (Nerd...)
I reiterate what I said before. You suck at analogies. You suck at excuses. You suck at rationalizations. From your posts in ATOT, you even seem to suck at life. And before I heard of you, I didn't even know that was possible.

Then don't bump your own loser threads if you're not going to be thankful or take anyone's advice.

Too expensive? Get a job loser. With your shit personality, you can't even meet a girl or make friends from these dances. Now, that's pathetic.

Who cares. Great way to meet people and help teach some cute girls. Disposable income? That's what a job is for...

Even with a job, they're expensive. They're really not worth it unless you're brand new or they just happen to be doing an advanced workshop over the weekend. (In which case, they're even more expensive!)

Uh, no. Lessons are NOT a great way to meet people. You're in a room with people who are dead silent because you're taking instruction. And if you're not DEAD SILENT, the instructors will flip out on your ass. WORST place to meet people. You get no conversation in because you're all dead silent and going through rotation.

I should add a disclaimer that you have to try extra hard for this one. You seem to push people away just by you being you.

Absolute. Bullshit.

I've taken 5 sets of 5 week long lessons at the Century (EC1, EC2, Lindy1, Lindy2a, Lindy2b). It is absolutely nothing like that.

Do you just make stuff up to feel sorry about yourself?

Lessons I have been to are like that. I've watched people take lessons before the dances as well(Not just the intro lesson, but the class lessons) and they are very much like that. There is not time for openly talking to each other and hitting one another up.

I only push people away because they're morons or they're not funny. :colbert: Rare to meet individuals who can maintain humor in a conversation for more than 30 seconds.

Conversation, as people are prone to say, is a two way street. It would seem to me that you're missing the way.

That's how it is at the lessons I've been to. People get kicked out if they keep talking.
Find another class. Or, wait until the class finishes. Duh.

I know u is trollin', but still... I am funny. Most people are not.

Why would I take the class then if I am doing it for the "social aspect?"
