You should because he molds and influences the NYPD, a lot of cops listen to him before going to work....
He's not David Duke-level racist....he just wants people to appreciate what cops do, in his opinion.
Why does he have a radio platform if he is not meaningful?

Yes people should appreciate the violence they receive from the police.

So he wants people to believe a lie? Just ask the Uvaldi parents. The fact is the police in this country fought for immunity when they just stand by.
My next door neighbor is from Uvalde and he loved this article. Coward ass Texas police.

Cops did their jobs on 9/11, they paid the sacrifice. They also messed up on Uvalde. We can say two things at the same time. Cops are a necessary evil at this point, but there needs to be more work to be done.

and cops are also known for unjustly and disproportionately killing black men.

is some form of policing necessary? i think so. can and should we do better than our current system which we KNOW has faults and biases? FUCK YES.

acknowledging our current system is unacceptable is the first step towards actually making it better. but only a fraction of people (%population-wise) are there, and most of them are the ones being oppressed by the system, so they have little power to change it.

I have no idea who Selleck or Esiason are. So don't care what they have to say.

The only celebrities I like are Taylor Swift and Katy Perry. Which is the thing about celebrities, they only matter to their fan bases. If your not part of their fan base, they don't matter.

I am going to go ahead and say for everyone here but you, Selleck and Esiason don't matter.

Uh, you're just not in OP's demographic of "at home during working hours, well, doing stuff, and watching those guys sell Reverse Mortgages on the Network TV!" demographic.

yeah, OP is in that bracket. Safe to say...the influence of the class selling you your retirement scams, means you are now lost to the world when it comes to influence. Time to accept it.

I mean, we all get there. Just better to recognize it when it happens.

Has the OP started a thread yet where they didn’t bring up 9/11? It’s like the fucking 2004 election in these threads.

I don't know if they are, but Boomer wants people to respect cops' sacrifice and he did not like Kaepernick's statements.
A. Boomer, the celebrity I think your referring to, is a piece of shit

B. In general, I want to respect the police, but sadly in my personal experience it is kinda 50/50 if a cop is a bad cop or a cop just punching his time card. I have encountered 1 good cop, so they do exist. I have encountered bad* cops, they want a little extra favor to do their job, not quite "illegal". Also encountered what is the least amount I can do here to get back to my donuts. Last but not least, observed the vandal cops, who just decide to destroy something because they have the authority. They found nothing. They didn't have a warrant, but that didn't matter.

*this type is also easy to locate off the job. Look for the asshole asking for the law enforcement discount. Guarantee you 100% this guy will also be dirty on the job.

C. The reason Kaepernick's statements were so objectionable is they were undeniable truth. Truth people didn't want to hear. Truth people want to ignore. Truth that was supposed to stay swept under the rug. Truth nobody wanted to do anything about.

Not me, they have a gun and a badge and people have respected them even more since 9/11, go to Boomer Esiason, Mike Piazza, TMZ and tell them that......
Ok, so why did you include quotes around “mortal fear” then?

Please cite your data proving marky mark is “extremely influential with all age groups “

That tracks. I mean, the first thing I do when I sit on the throne and is think to myself, how would Marky Mark take this dump? A hard push and a clenched sphincter? Or just relax and let nature take its course? Those are hard decisions to make on your own without the help of Marky Mark.

Also, I think the point of this thread is that influential people are racist and support the cops no matter what and that's how they get famous. So you should too. Because they're otherwise, you're just a nobody.

On a serious note, even though this is not a serious thread, I am very pro-police, but under no circumstance would I ever advocate blindly trusting the police, nor would I ever say they do not need supervision. They should absolutely be held accountable for every second they wear that badge. The public are their bosses, and they need to start acting like it.

- WAIT WAIT WAIT, you can't be both pro-police and still want to hold them accountable! That's against the rules!

They, along with people like Tom Selleck, Boomer Esiason, etc. feel that the public don't "respect" the police. They feel police put their lives on the line for things and people should respect what they are doing and letting them do their job.
Respect is earned. You dont just get it because you wear a badge. If cops treated everyone perfectly and within accordance of the actual laws, and without profiling/racism. Then maybe the country would respect them.

Exactly....

I think it's because 9/11 changed the way how we feel about safety and Boomer especially lost a lot of cop friends on 9/11, he feels people, especially the minority community doesn't appreciate the "sacrifices". That's why he went off on Kaepernick.
I hate when minorities are sacrificed by the guns of cops too.
