Seattle to Vancouver

I'm going up to vancouver in 2 weeks and im trying to finish figuring out the route. I was told there was an alternate border crossing place instead of the one you reach when you stay on I-5. THis alternate one is usually for trucks and teh such but normal cars are also allowed to pass. For those who know what i'm talking about, do i get off of I-5 and onto highway 543 which becomes 176st when i reach canada?

Sumas is the alternate one, and is usually better than the normal route. I believe the route you described is the proper one to get there.

Yeah, you don't need to get off I-5 to get to Vancouver. You were asking about the alternate route, which is in Sumas -- which I usually take Highway 9 to get to.

Sumas is a bit out of the way, you're talking about the Truck Crossing which is right near the Blaine crossing. There's plenty of signs letting you know how to get there, so I wouldn't sweat it. It used to be a lot quicker, but nowadays I'm not sure if there's much of a difference.

Sumas is a LOT quicker, but like I said, it's a bit out of the way. You'll end up in Abbotsford and have to drive through a lot of bumpkin roads.

Ah, when he said alternate, I thought he meant alternate. Being from up near Bellingham, we used to use Sumas most of the time, but the rest of the time we'd use the truck one (I know which one you're talking about). Almost never took the "normal" route.

The main one is in Blaine, right at the end of I-5 called the Peace Arch Crossing, you want to take the Pacific Highway exit off I-5 and go through the Pacific Highway crossing which is also in Blaine, it's definantly alot faster and less crowded.
