Thinking of someday visiting Seattle. Don't know why. Just feeling visiting some place on the west coast that isn't in Kalifornia. Definetly will go up in th Space Needle. So whats there?

What do you like to do? There's great city life opportunities, and there's also great outdoor experiences. The seafood is excellent. There's lots of water. Come in the summer.

It's often quite damp. Pike's Place market is a popular tourist attraction, as is the EMP museum (which is right by the Space Needle, so you can hit those up at the same time). There's some cool pubs there as well, but I can't think of the names of any offhand. Seattle is a lot like Portland in that it's a great city to live in, but not really all that touristy, so there's not a convenient checklist of "you need to visit these things and then leave."

Fish flingers. Rain. Coffee. More rain. Rain changing to showers, followed by light drizzle. Partly cloudy with a chance of rain.

Fruit loops.

Not trying to change your mind about California, but, there are plenty of reasons why one state is more popular than the other.

I visited Seattle, once.

I'm visiting Seattle this summer for the first time, and looking up websites highlighting tourist attractions, the top five list includes Bill Gates' home, a stone-carved troll, and a Starbucks... hmmm...

That's been about it since we moved to the area last November...and it's raining here again today.

(but yesterday was nice)

After 20 years in the area, I now think of a "sunny" day as when the sky is a lighter shade of grey :)

I went to the space needle for the first time about 3 months ago, it is pretty cool. Definitely get lunch or dinner while you're there as the restaurant at the top is awesome. In hindsight, I would have made a reservation at the restaurant because that is the only way to get a window seat, so definitely do that.

Seattle is one of my favorite cities, although the weather can be a bit bleak. The summers are absolutely perfect though.

don't do the underground tour...

Hmm. I liked it and my visiting family liked it. It might not blow you away but it is pretty interesting.

Things to do in Seattle:
Seattle Center (space needle, EMP, SF museum, dancing water fountain)
Catch the little monorail from Seattle Center to Westlake Center.
Catch a movie at Cinerama and have Top Pot donut before or after.
Shopping around Westlake or up Fifth
Pike Place Market (upper levels with food, flowers, produce and such, lower levels with interesting shops)
Various markets around Pike Place area like the sanitary market, post alley stuff. Lots of hidden restaurants and such here.
Keep going down from the market and cross under the viaduct to see the water front. Hit Ye Olde Curiosity Shoppe, have fish and chips, ride ferris wheel.
Head up like Cherry and walk down first to Pioneer Square for restaurants, galleries and homeless people. Also where the Underground Tour is.
Near Pioneer Square you can go to tour Safeco Field.
Can hit Ballard, Queen Anne, Fremont, Capitol Hill, Greenlake for various neighborhoods.
U-district to see U of WA, has some interesting architecture and in the spring cherry blossoms.

Overall though Seattle is a great place to live and an ok place to visit. Only a couple touristy areas and lots of non touristy neighborhoods. Plus lots of outdoors stuff I didn't mention like Mt Ranier.

Thanks for all the info. I just want to go someplace completely out of the way and different. Tired of the same old views, scenery places (southern Jersey shore area). Even when I viste PA or Maryland, Delaware, Virginia etc., it just doesn't feel far enough away. I've heard alot about the Pacific Northwest (including its natural beauty) and figured Seattle would be a nice place to visit for a few days.

Ok... Try driving around Olympic National Park then. That's a totally different experience from downtown Seattle.

drive a couple hours north and visit Vancouver too if you're into natural beauty, while in the area go up to Whistler.
