I usually get reception where I need it, but the weird thing is that there are a couple places where I will have 5 bars, and then the signal will fade mid-call.

Mind you, these places are like "The Vashon ferry", and "The machine shop in the basement of the physics building", so I don't think that Sprint is to blame.

I don't have experience with anyone else around here, though, so I can't say whether it's better or worse than the other guys.

Sprint and Nextel are the same network and they suck for reception in general. We have sprint cards in 50+ PD laptops, 60 Nextel/Sprint blackberrys, and 50 Sprint/nextel phones.

I'm in the Fife/Tacoma area.

I've never had a problem with service in the Seattle area nor anywhere in WA. My only gripe is I don't get service in many buildings such as my work and some grocery stores.

Yes, I should add thats our main problem. It's okay if you're outside in the open, but get behind the wrong tree and you're dropping bars.

Sprint and Nextel are actually two networks with two different technologies

You're right, I apologize. We're on the Nextel network but Sprint owns them. They are now working on hybrid phones that work on both of them.

The blackberrys and cell phones are Nextel and our aircards for the laptops are Sprint. My comments still stand though for reception on the aircards.

I've lived in Seattle for 4 years now, with 3 of those being a Sprint customer. Their service/coverage was normally good, although I always had trouble with big stone buildings at UW campus. The hills, trees, and buildings make Seattle a challenge.

I recently switched to Verizon and I tend to get better coverage in the UW campus building I work at now but I wonder if the towers are really that different (Sprint and Verizon are CDMA). I don't drop calls like I did with my older Sprint phone though.
