Seattle, New York, LA, San Francisco?

Pretend for a moment that you're 25, single, have a bachelor's degree in computer science, and you're kind of sick of the town you live in. Where would you go for a year or two (or however long you felt like staying)?

Well what do you like? what are you?

Do you like over populated city life?
Do you like mexicans?
Do you like alot of rain?
Do you like homosexuals?
Do you hate america?

by the way im just joking

I would go with San Francisco or LA for the weather and good IT economy.

SEATTLE for sure. It's not such a crowded city like New York. It's not nearly as big and congested as the LA area. It's expensive, but cheaper than San Francisco (and all the other places). Plus there are like a bazillion things to do in the Northwest (especially if you like the outdoors).

SF. Its a city filled with mid 20 somethings much like yourself.

EDIT: I'd go NY second. Since I had a friend with a CS degree who was working in SF but relocated to NY.

Only real problem with Seattle is the traffic. We don't have the freeway infrastructure to support the population. The only place I've personally encountered worse traffic was Chicago. Outside of that, Seattle all the way. I would put SF a close second though. Very similar city, just slightly warmer (not all that much really), and SF probably actually gets more actual rain. We just have a lot of foggy, misty, light rain days in Seattle.

I was planning to move to Seattle some day, but really really like where I live right now. I seriously think our location is nearly perfect.

I lived in Seattle this summer and the traffic was definitely bad... thankfully I only had to commute 3 miles within Renton (although that city is a crap hole).

However, I can't see how LA or even San Francisco would have any better traffic.

I'd go to San Fran, mainly because I live 45 mins away 🙂

Just gotta make sure you move to the right area...

If you move to another city in the States, you'll just get bored again.

Working in London will do one of two things for you:
1. You'll find out all the things you've taken for granted while working in the States and you'll come back with a whole new perspective on working conditions.
2. You'll fall in love with London and you'll never want to come back.

Either way, you win.
