Seating distance and resolution

So my basement couch is 10-12 feet from my TV. Am I really going to benefit from UHD in a 50-55" TV. I have a 10 year old plasma Panasonic 720p that needs an upgrade?

Most of what I read says at that distance its something greater than 70 inches before I'd notice a 4k TV.

No... I'm not going to buy a bigger TV.

Currently 50". Most I can go is 55" in the space I have. Its a custom built-in entertainment center with shelves on the side limiting the width.
