Seasonic X650 PSU Received in Open Box?

Before realizing I don't need a new PSU right now I ordered a SeaSonic X-650 PSU. The PSU arrived today from NewEgg. The SeaSonic box is not shrink wrapped or sealed. IS this unit originally shipped in a sealed or shrink wrapped box?

I'm trying to remember, I'm pretty sure my X-750 wasnt wrapped, but everything inside was absolutely pristine.

I don't think my X-750 was wrapped either but it was in perfect condition.

Should I start a new thread for this one?

If I install the X-650 PSU but could really get by with a X-500 am I wasting current by using the X-650 or
will the X-650 only draw what it needs?
Over a period of a year will a X-650 use the same amount of current as a X-500 assuming the load is the same during the year?

There's an X-500? Must have missed that.

And PSUs only draw what is necessary, it's not a an open faucet so to speak.

Ah, the X-650 is a thing of beauty. Mine was not shrink-wrapped in plastic.

The lower watt versions of this PSU are fanless, which makes sense since JohnnyGuru.com's review found this psu operating fanless to 300W.

sorry, it's the X-560 I was referring to. I own the X650 but could get by w/ the 560 if I even need that.

I'm concerned about the hybrid fan design in the "X" I wonder how it impacts on my mid tower ATX case. I think the PSU exhaust fan is part of the ATX air flow design from the PSU

Ventilation: rear of case 3" exhaust fan in PSU
directly below PSU is another 3" exhaust fan
left side of case is ventilated for air intake funnel inside case that covers large fan on top of i7 2.93 quad CPU

"X" series work in this type case?
