Seasonic S12 II 500 and Seasonic S12 550HT

I was reading reviews for this PSU and saw another very similar version on Newegg. Trying to figure out the difference. Right now it's a $24 difference and 50w as far as I can tell.
It will be for a C2D e8500 single gpu type PC so I figure either would be fine. I don't overclock, but I do like silence because my PC is in the living room.

suggestions?

OOPS you posted this in the wrong section. Case and Cooling only applies to cases and cooling. PSU has its own section, so i'll move it for you

Case and Cooling Mod. Aigomorla

I believe the S12 II is the newer model. It actaully has the new 6+2 pin PCI-e connector and would be the better overal by. I'm surprised its cheaper then the older model. But then i guess thats the price for 50W. But the S12 II is the more updated model and the better overall buy. If you ever get a card like the 3870X2 you'll have the connectors needed to power it.

Thanks for the reply. The only other thing I could find is that the S12II is rated aat 85% and the other says 88% efficient.

Thos are peek efficiency numbers. you would have to maintain about a 75% load on the unit to get that efficiency. Chances are you'll average about 75% to 80% no matter which one you use.

both are +80 certificated which means they're don't go below 80% efficiency at 25, 50 and 100% load.

Not all 80+ cert PSUs maintain 80% or better efficiency throught all loads. I know thats what the certification is suppose to show but real world testing has shown different results on some 80+ units.

Hi all.

I have a queston but it not belongs to the topic. So I have a Seasonic SS-401HT power supply nad according to the data sheet the delivered power of the 12V lines are 14 and 15A. So, I don't know if the Seasonic separates the 12V or not? Because the 'Seasonic-inner' power supplies (for example Corsair VX450 or the Corsair HX series) have got one (unseparate) 12V line. Moreover, on the HX520 or 620's data sheet these have 3 or 4 12V, but in effect these single rail PSUs. So, what about the 401HT? Is a really single rail power supply similarly the Corsair HX series, or it has 2 12V line?

Thanks the answer and sorry my not perfect English 🙂
