Hey guys,

I got into computers about 2 years ago when I did my first build. I didn't do a whole lot of research, and over the past couple years have been trying to fix the mistakes I made with my original purchase.

I realized I have high expectations for the quality of the parts in my computer, however, this wasn't the case when I built my computer in the first place. The few 'mistakes' I made was going with a ECS 650i ultra motherboard, a Rosewill 550w power supply, an 8600GTS, and a Maxtor HDD.

Since then, I've upgraded the stock Intel HSF to a Thermalright Ultra 120 with a Nexus 120mm silent fan. I've moved from a CM Centurion 5 case to a Lian Li Lancool K10, and that was nice. I changed out the ECS to an EVGA 650i Ultra, to a Gigabyte EP45-UD3R, and that's where I am now, much more content with the results of that latest switch. I've changed the 8600GTS with stock fan, to an 8800GT with a Zalman VF900 and that just about covers everything.

I know this is a whole lot of backstory, but I hope it sets up a frame of what I want out of a power supply. I want quietness, modularity, quality, and good efficiency. I came down to 3 options, the Seasonic M12II 430 or 500, or the Corsair 520HX. I mainly want to go with the 430 because it fits my budget more nicely, but what I want some insight from the community.

Will the 430 be sufficient for an upgrade in the future? I'm thinking that so long as I stay in a single card configuration, this will be more than enough. I only plan on using 1 HDD, 1 GPU, and in time, a quad core. I've done some research, and looked to silentpcreview for much of my information, so what do you guys think?

**Edit**
Here's a link to the powersupply I'm looking at, if you guys aren't entirely familiar with the model.

A good quality 430w like that should be fine for up to a gtx275/4890 now, and the midrange cards of next gen, although I'd personally buy one of the 500w's

With that price, it's hard to beat if you want modular, proven quality, efficiency and quietness (=tested by SPCR), and enough juice to cover a quadcore + high-end single GPU system.

I would not spend another 20 bucks to get the 500W model though with the rebate it's $84.99. I'm leaving it up to you to make the choice :)

Well I got my Seasonic M12II 430 in the mail today and got it all set up in my system. So far so good. It's much quieter than I expected, and it doesn't have an annoying bright blue led like my old Rosewill. I feel much more confident in my system now though after taking out that 2 year old rosewill and I'm sure it'll serve me well over the next 5 years.
