The CORE Series is the brand new series that completes the Seasonic lineup. The 80 PLUS® Gold certified CORE Series comes in all three cabling setups, including the fully modular CORE GX, semi-modular CORE GM, and lastly the fixed-cabled CORE GC.

I saw these new power supplies while shopping on Newegg. Based on pricing and specs, this series is below their Focus series.

There are no reviews yet, but from the specs they have: 7 year warranty, 80 Plus Gold efficiency, use Japanese capacitor (likely only for the main), and are offered in 550w, 600w, and 650w sizes.

Newegg only had the GX and GM models listed for sale, so I'm not sure if the U.S. market will see the GC (non-modular) model. As of right now, Newegg has the 650w GM version for $74.99 after $15 MIR.

Edit: I just noticed the Core series uses a sleeve bearing fan, with the life expectancy being half of what the Focus and Prime series FDB fans are rated for (25,000 hours vs. 50,000 hours) at 40c. IMO, that's a big concern at their pricing level vs. their competitors.

Not bad sounding, Gold and 7 year warranty is pretty decent, especially if the prices are low.

Yeah, the new series looked pretty solid. However, when looking into the more detailed specs, I noticed they use a sleeve bearing fan. That aspect is unfortunate in an otherwise strong looking lower mid-range unit.

i'm spoiled, and I'm a purist. I suppose I could investigate EVGA and other makes, although I saw an EVGA highly-rated unit that was a rebadged Seasonic. A lot of PSUs from other "manufacturers" are rebadged Seasonics.

But I've even seen Gold-rated Seasonics in mild states of deterioration after four or five years' use. So I buy their PRIME Titanium models with the ten-year warranties. If I only build one machine every three or four years, I think of it as a good insurance policy and an investment, since I tend to buy parts closer to the top-end versus budget components.

12 year warranties. If you bought one labeled 10 year, it was upgraded.

Looks like a solid entry into the midgrade segment but the prices... yeah, I'll be buying more capacitors from digikey (already have fans) and refurbishing the spares I have, to tide me over until PSU prices drop back to sane levels.
