Anybody else watch it? I never heard anything about it until about a week ago. I dvr'ed both episodes but so far have only watched the first. Not bad-way better than Grimm IMHO.

I liked it so far. Enough to watch again next week anyways.
Still not a big fan of subtitling though... that was annoying.

The promos looked pretty dumb to me...anyone care to give a brief rundown of the basic story line so I might better decide if it would be worth it?

I got really bored after the first episode and didn't watch the 2nd half. I turned on Justified instead, much better show!

i too have only watched the first ep and it was just okay. im going to watch ep2 on the way home from work.

i kind of do and don't like the way it's done. ok i get that the whole show is "supposed" to be filmed from a film crew point of view, or mounted cameras.

then why when the son and other chick were in the water fixing the propeller, was there a camera in the water with them? no camera man was with them.

so that aspect is kind of hit or miss.

i also felt they tried way too many times for cheap scares. and the spanish daughter girl is just a very cliched character - why the hell does she know everything about this creature?

Trying to squeeze in too many elements from other movies into this show... Paranormal activity, Blair Witch, etc. Kind of lame overall.

Just finished the two hours now. I was quite impressed, I liked it a lot. Fwiw I loved paranormal activity 3 (the only one of those I have seen).

Steve Irwin like guy takes his family around with him in the Amazon while filming his TV series. He then disappears in the Amazon and the wife and grown up son go to find him with the TV network paying for it so long as they can film it for another reality show. Lots of freaky shit starts occuring when they find his abandoned boat and they find film from the dude that shows him learning magic from native Amazonians.

Come on now. We're talking different tiers now.

That would be like a one armed midget fighting Mike Tyson.

watched episode 2 and i dunno, i may continue to watch it. i just don't like how sometimes they film like it's being filmed by a film crew or it's being filmed like a movie. that is really irritating me. make up your fucking mind.

and now that one of the camera men died, it's only going to get more of both.

i also find the main characters kind of annoying, especially the son. also it is just weird to me how they are taking these magical powers and things happening so lightly, like it's normal. they aren't freaking out or anything.

that said though, the style of the show and what i've seen so far, i'll give it at least 1 more week before i decide. definitely not as shitty as alcatraz was after watching 2 eps.

lol yeah

I had never heard of this show until a guy at work said I should check it out. I downloaded the first two and watched the first one..the whole monster/spirit bit was horrible, especially when the mom was talking to hit on the deck

It seems like they're going to try and fit in many different horror genre cliches into the series. And since it's not a single 2-3 hour dose, some of those get really hamfisted. For instance, that spirit was supposedly the TV producer that Emmett took with him. Other than giving them a vehicle to find out if Emmett is still alive or not, that didn't make much sense to me. Not that horror is always supposed to be explainable but it just seemed like clumsy storytelling. The thing should have just been an unknown entity.

I'll give it one more episode to see how it does and if it improves. Sometimes a new series takes a few shows to really get going.

I watched this on Dvr tonight. To be honest I thought both episodes were outstanding. Its definately not going to be for everyone... some people get nauseous from the shakey-cam... also need a high level.suspension of disbelief. But if you can get into the supernatural aspects, its a lot of fun. The level of tension was terrific, Imho.

Then again I liked "the fourth kind" so take that into account...

I watched both episodes on Hulu last night. Overall, I was impressed. I was thinking it would be more like Lost with the mysterious stuff, but thankfully, it's not. While there is an overarching supernatural/mystery theme to the series, I read somewhere that each episode will contain its own story. The first two episodes follow that patter.

There were a couple cheap scares, but a lot of good slowly-building tension. I've not seen any of the Paranormal Activity movies, but I'm a fan of a good scare. I found myself looking away from the screen a few times. The one thing I can see myself getting sick of is the continuous "found footage" look. It's one thing for a 90-minute movie, but for an entire TV series...I dunno.

The blonde girl is also extremely hot, which certainly doesn't hurt. I'll stick around for the rest of the season.

After watching both episodes, I liked them well enough to keep recording future episodes. Not bad so far.
