I just wanted to post a positive post for once instead of all the negative posts.

5.9 months ago, I bought a new fridge, range, and microwave from Sears. I got a great price (on sale, 20% rebate, and mostly free shipping). Then they offered 0% interest for 6 months on top of that. A quick calculation in my head showed it would save me just over $60. Plus I needed another CC for my credit score to be maximized (according to my most recent check on my score, I needed an CC with $0 balance). So I took them up on that offer. If I don't pay it off by 6 months, I owe ~$250 in interest. Being the cheapskate I am, I'd never pay interest on anything but a house.

Well 5.9 months passed, and I got late on my paycheck from work (I was out of town for 5 days on vacation), thus there was no time to safely use snail mail. I went to pay online and there is a 6 buisness day waiting period to pay the bill, and the first payment can only be $1000. I didn't sign up soon enough - my fault. So I'm faced with a $250 interest hit. Ouch. I found out they had a pay-by-phone service for $14.95. Ouch, I haven't paid even a penny for a CC and no late fee or any other fee for any service. So I was about to take my first hit, $14.95 is better than $250.

I called in. Pleasant woman answered, clear English. Made nice small talk while waiting for data to come up. Waived the $14.95 fee. And was about to push some credit protection plan but she stopped short and didn't try the hard sale when I wasn't interested. Whole thing took 5 minutes (cell phone timer). I couldn't imagine a better service.

Big thumbs up for Sears. Any company with that great service deserves some positive posts.

Have a great weekend everyone. Mine just started on a good tone.

Cool.

This is why I never do those 0% for 6 months deals - I'd forget.

It was my first time. Possibly my only time. I had specific reasons for it and those probably won't come up again.
