Yes, take a web site printout with you. The rest sorta depends. I've heard everything from phone calls to web sites to check stock to outright refusal as Sears accepts Internet price matches to "approved" web sites on a list.

So, a month ago, I feared the worse as I took in a printout for a Toshiba 61H71 and Kenwood HTB504. The 61H71 sells for $2699 normally, $2599 on sale, and $2499 on a super sale at Sears or Best Buy.

My price match was $1980 - 10% + $40 delivery + 4.5% sales tax. I got into the Toshiba for under $2 grand. The HTB504 is about $350 on the net, about $450 at a store on a good sale. I got it for $350- 10% plus $10 delivery and 4.5% sales tax.

The salesman did not call, did not blink, did not do anything except head to the register.

As a long time lurker I feel the need to point out that 10% is for suckers :)

But of course, it's still money and 10% is better than nothing ;)

Gosh, every time this 10 percent off thread pops up, someone says "it's for suckers."

DID YOU READ MY MESSAGE?

Can you IMAGINE buying an HDTV compatible at an Internet store and having it DEFECTIVE? Do you KNOW what kind of trouble you would go through?

I saved about $700 by price matching down to just under $2000 - $200 of that was due to the 10 percent off sale.

HELLO!!

And I got the EXCELLENT customer service from Sears and I bought _locally_. I got a BETTER price than I would have gotten from some hole in the wall in New York sending a 300 lb television through the mail across at least five states.

HELLO!!

The 10 percent off sale is a cause for celebration if you are buying a big ticket item.

There is NO BETTER WAY TO BUY THESE TYPES OF ITEMS.

It's only the TRUE sucker that doesn't understand this!!!!

Another example: Take a COMPAQ IPAQ. Find your cheapest Internet price. Take it to Sears tomorrow morning. You have an excellent chance of getting it AT THAT PRICE LOCALLY with NO NEED TO WAIT and then an extra $50 off on top of that.

HELLO!!

Suckers indeed - the truly intelligent shoppers WAIT with ANTICIPATION for this kind of sale on these types of items.

Whoever says 10% off at Sears is for suckers, is obviously NOT a home owner. Sears has great appliances and saving 10% off a kitchen full of appliances can save you $400+ easy. I'm also in the market for a tractor, 10% of a $1k tractor is sweet.

Used this to buy four new tires for my van last week. Bought them for 30% off before 11/28 and then had them installed this morning. The guy gave me another 10% off of all items purchased minus service. Very nive deal. $90 tires for $49.50 a piece before taxes, that is almost half off because the store was already selling the tires cheaper than their own online site. I spent a lot but I saved a lot as well. Great deal here. Thanks. btw, you didn't have to use your SEARS card. I also got several towels and a pair of slippers for my wife. :) Good luck to all this holiday season.

See? When you first see ten percent off, you go "so what they have high prices anyway" but then the possibilities are ENDLESS for how this is a time for celebration!

I just spoke with a sales rep in NH about the 32HS20 (32" wega HDTV ready) He says that he can put me up for 10% off on saturday, and there's also a 10% off coupon lying somewhere in the flyers or something like that.. He told me to get it so I can get another 10% off there. If anybody know what he's talking about, please scan that coupon and post it up??? I am going to my local sears tomorrow and ask around to see if I can dig it up or something...

oh yeah.. btw, the sale is every saturaday til christmas..

If you read the fine print, it also says that if you receive the flyer late (after the sale) they will still honor sales prices. My flyer had a coupon for and additional $5 off if you put it on your Sears card. I had cancelled my Sears card when I paid it off a few months back so I had to open a new account (only takes 5 minutes). If you open a new account, you get another $10 off. Also, I was a lucky shopper where the register randomly prints out a coupon to fill out a phone survey about your shopping experince at Sears for an additional $5 off. I bought a dishwasher, normally priced at $490 - $90 on sale for $400 - $40 (%10 off 7- 10 am sale) - $10 (new account) - $5 (coupon) - $5 (survey) = $340! That was a total savings of $150!

The fine print also states that if Sears doesn't have a sale item in stock, they will either give you a comparable product at the same price or the next better item in stock at the same price. I wish Best Buy had this!!! Sears is great for home appliances.
