FWIW

I do almost all of my own car repairs.

The 2-ton jack I use is barely sufficient, IMHO
You really need / want a 4 ton.
 
If you do a lot of work under the car, definitely invest in a better jack. One that you can roll by pushing the handle and that offers you more & easier range of movement.

I got this set over X-Mas for like $25 also and it does what I need; I pretty much only do my oil & small fixes. If I did much more, I'd want a bigger jack.

that's what the jack stands are for....you really shouldn't be going under your car with only the jack holding it up...
