Hi all,

I went to sears to get a New stove and fridge they are both "Kenmore" (Sears Brand) any way the fridge says "Kenmore" but its made by "Amana" and the stove i'm not sure who makes it but like I said there both by "Kenmore".

Heres what they are:

Stove: Stainless Steel and Black $729.00 on sale (Lots of bells and whistles).
Fridge : Stainless Steel and Black Side by Side W/ the water, ice dispenser (Lots of bells and whistles) on sale $1399.00

I'll be getting it delivered for $50 for both pieces and installed.
I'll be getting $50 energy instant savings coupon so the fridge will actually cost $1349.00
I'll be getting 6 months NO interest AND NO PAYMENTS. (I will just use my visa to pay off the total before the 6 months is up)

ANYWAY are there any happy "Kenmore" owners out there or disatisfied with "Kenmore". Tell me your stories, I really want too make sure its a good brand.

The lady said she will try to get me 12 months No Interest and NO Payments so that would be cool.

I thought Kenmore was Fridgidare or Whirlpool?

We've had Kenmore in our family for about 15 years, absolutely NO problems what so ever.

When we buy our first house, chances are ALL the appliances will be Kenmore Elite (on sale of course).

Yeah I see the "Elite Series" but I really don't want to pay $2000.00 for a fridge and over $1000.00 for a stove.

I really wish I could afford a "Sub-Zero" fridge but I'm not a Rapper or Sport Athlete. :D

Whirlpool used to be the primary manufacturer for Kenmore, but nowadays almost everybody makes a Kenmore-branded appliance

Most of their ranges are Frigidaires or GEs in disguise.

I have had Kenmore in past houses and currently have a Maytag Stove, Maytag Dishwasher, Maytag Microwave, and a Whirlpool frig. I haven't had a problem with Kenmore or Maytag.

Appliances are one of the few items that are made in the US taht are pretty decent.

You can get some euro appliances that are arguably better, but seriously more expensive...

Kenmore stuff is usually slightly different from the source appliance (Whirlpool, etc) so they can't be pricematched.

I have a front loader washing machine & gas clothes drier (Kenmore branded) & am very happy with them.

I may be in the dark about this, but appliances are so common nowadays that if you're going to have a problem with one I highly doubt the brand has anything to do with it. More like a you have crappy luck type thing.

I've never had a problem with any of the Kenmore stuff at Sears. I have a Kenmore gas grill, air filters, and dishwasher. Sears is a decent store when it comes to replacements, warranties, etc.

EDIT: Also, Some areas have Sears Outlet stores where you can get brand spanking new appliances that might have a scratch or soemthing, for like half price. I always shop there but I don't know how common those places are.

We bought all of our stuff at Sears too, Kenmore brand. Great stuff. :D And if you keep extending the warranties, they'll service them for free when there is a problem and service them annually for general maintenance even if they're working fine.

Kenmore refrigerators are GE rebranded models. My dad's former job (UAB...for those who can decipher it) used to farm him out to different manufacturing plants to be the plant doctor a couple times a week, and one of the plants was a GE facility that made Kenmore refrigerators.

That said, my parents recently replaced a Kenmore fridge that had lasted 26 years. Yes, it was mustard yellow (the actual color was Harvest Gold). Yes, it was nasty. But it worked great!

My parents bought a kenmore fridge this past spring. I like it and everything seems to be high quality on it.

Kenmore is usually built by brand name manufactures. I have a kenmore stove a dishwasher, both are 5 years old and have been very good.

I used to work for a brand name company that made water heaters, when we ran batches for sears we had to double powder coat the inside, so the sears runs were of higher quality than the actual brand.

Thats correct. Look at each one as thou it is made by a different company, as you never really know.

Thing I like to look for is how effiecent it is. If it runs on not much power compared to others, that tells me they spent sometime on that model and it should hold up.

Why? I thought the purpose of the qoute was to let people know you were responding to that particular reply.
also what do you mean random??

Oh also I wish I had your problems, that the way I post is a problem big enough in your life that you need to take time to tell me it bothers you. Congrats on the carefree life you have.:D

Kenmore makes NOTHING. The badge is just stuck on another brand appliance. The first 3 numbers in the model # will tell you who made it.

Sears is a great place to buy appliances, and the Kenmore brand is one of the best values you'll ever find, because of stuff like that ^. IMHO, Sears is very picky about the quality of the products bearing their brand name.

Would you buy, for example, a GE water heater, GE washing machine, GE refrigerator, GE microwave, GE air conditioner, GE stove, GE range hood, and GE dishwasher? Most people would probably not. Most people would probably want to mix and match brands by considering who makes the best (or best value per dollar) of each type of product. Well, it just so happens that Sears does that for you, and then sells it all in one place under the Kenmore name.

IMHO, you can always buy Kenmore appliances with confidence. Kenmore appliances offer good functionality, good quality, good value for your money, and excellent availability of replacement parts. It?s not that you?ll need many replacement parts over time, but Sears has their OEMs under contract to provide replacement parts for every model for a long, long time. If the ice maker craps on your otherwise perfectly good Kenmore fridge years down the road, you (or your repair person) can still get the replacement parts to fix it, and you won?t need to buy a whole new major appliance just to have automatic ice making again.

I?m raving here because I believe that they do right by their customers, and as a result, they have some fierce brand loyalty going on, sometimes through 3 or more generations of family (my grandparents, my parents, and now me, for example).
