searching problem

I know this is just a minor problem, but I hate when I search and the dates are all scrambled. IE: 8/16/2006 then the next one would be 9/21/2006 then 5/28/2006, etc. Is there any setting to fix this? I hate when I see a nice price on an item only to find out it's 6 months old and already sold
 
Did you select the Sort By Date option.

Note that this works for the last date, not the date the thread was started

You need to do an ADVANCED search and select the SORT BY DATE option, then subsequent searches will also sort by date, whether a simple search in a forum or an advanced search is performed.
