Searching problem

I remember it being in order and alot easier to use awhile back.

Let's say for example you do a search for Pc games in the For Sale/Trade forum........... The listing (last posts) you get back will not be in order.

Example:
11/18/2005
09/01/2005
11/22/2005
11/16/2005
09/30/2005
11/22/2005
10/27/2005

It's very difficult to sift through all the threads to find the "newest/active" for sale thread when you get back results such as these.

I know about that feature, I was just pointing out that the search function on the page itself does not put the dates in order anymore.

What page?

If I go to the For Sale/Trade forum and put PC games into the search box, the last post results are all listed in chronological order.

If I click on Search, then under the Advance Settings, check off search by date it doesn't always stay that way. I believe that's what he's trying to say.

You said once you check it will be like that until you uncheck it but mine always comes back as unchecked as soon as I attempt another search.

Just a guess here...

I vote for that too

Is the cookie seperate from the cookie that I use to login? Cuz I stay logged in if I close the IE browser and come back to the forum but the search thing hasn't ever stuck the way it should.

You might want to PM jason about that. Mine stays checked unless I am accessing while not logged in or I delete cookies.

Could you guys take a screen shot of where you're checking off? Thanks.

click on "advanced search" at the left or top
under "advanced filtering" check "order search results by date"

My take on this is, that if I use the simple search box in whatever forum I'm in (say the For Sale forum) that the results will be out of order by date. If I go into the advanced search, and search for that same word or phrase, and have the sort by date box checked. Then the results are by the latest date. Now if I later go back to that forum, and use the same search term in the quick search box, then the results will be displayed by the latest dates.

So, I have to search for that exact term in the advanced search once, to get later quick searches to be sorted by date correctly.

A new search term means I run a new advanced search, one time.

This is not how it used to be. I have basically given up on quick searches.

I've also noticed that almost all the images on anandtech aren't there while using FF. I'm goign to uninstall Adblock and see if they come back.

Solution: Don't block referrers...all pics work fine now
