Just curious as to why 2 days ago I could search the for sale / trade forum for the phrase "WTB" and today I can't as it is too common of a word.

Couldn't search before I posted here because WTB is too common of a word like and, or, the, etc.

Works for me in advanced search but not quick search using IE 6. Another search idiosyncrasy.

Same in firefox. I guess they added wtb to the "too common" word list. Is it automatically added (e.g. from overuse) or was it manually added? Do the searches work differently?

Either way, that's bad because I use it a lot to see if I can sell anything quickly. Yes, advanced works, but it's just an added hassle.

Search appears to be broken badly.

I put in Louisiana and this is what I got:

Your search contained ignored words, ignored words are words like a,and,to,between. Please re-construct your search without these ignored words.

Louisiana worked for me in both the quick and advanced searches.

wtb also works now for me. A bit slow, but that's probably because of the number of results.

Folks, search hasn't been touched in months so nothing on this end would "block" words. I will investigate in the next few days, real busy on other stuff at the moment.

Quite frankly too that is a tiny search string to expect to get anything meaningful. I don't think any search engine will do any good finding a post based on three letters. Your best bet is to do an advanced search and do title only.

Searching for WTB in FS/FT forums shouldn't be too bad, especially when restricted to titles/summaries, I mean, maybe 1 in 20 is a WTB and that doesn't seem to unreasonable.
