ATA33 and ATA66/100 should mix ok, but it will only run at ATA33 speed (probably not a big deal). I had something like this happen and it was the jumpers. A message may display when you boot up saying something like "channel 0 master" "channel 0 slave" listing the drives assigned to them. Mine showed up as slave and gave me the "no drive detected" or something like that. Make sure the connector at the very end is plugged into the drive. I think ATAxx cares about that. If you can't find the jumper settings let me know. I just went through this.
