... and I have another Outlook 2002 question (I have MANY! But only am going to subject you to two at the moment).
Having just switched from Outlook Express to Outlook 2002, I'm surprised to find that searching for email in Outlook 2002 seems to be LESS powerful than in Outlook Express.
I've noticed two annoying limitations:
1. It does not appear to be possible to search for email text in all of your mail accounts simultaneously. In the Outlook Express search window, you could click "Browse" and then check "Outlook Folders" and Outlook Express would search everything--all of your accounts and folders. There is no such all-encompassing box to check in Outlook 2002's search window, and when attempting to check multiple accounts, Outlook 2002 informs you that "You can only select folders from the same information service." I use several email accounts somewhat interchangeably, and to have to search each one separately is a real annoyance for me.
2. If I search my "Personal Folders" while my Hotmail account is on view, it will find what I'm looking for, but when I click to open an email, Outlook 2002 spits out this infuriating redundacny: "Can't open this item. Could not open the item. Try again." Needless to say, trying again does not help. What does help, is displaying my POP3 email account, which is in Personal Folders. Then when I do the search again, it finds what I'm looking for and I'm able to open the items. In short: it seems that you have to be viewing a folder in the account your searching in order to view items found it the search.
I've seen a couple references that, while not describing my specific case, state that clearing the forms cache would help when receiving the "Can't open this item. Could not open the item. Try again." error message. But in my case, it doesn't help.
Is there any way around this limited search functionality in Outlook 2002?
Thanks.
