searching files in windows

I need to search some file on a Windows 2003 Server machine for a specific string. Problem is the file extensions are not registered so window's built in search ignores them. And, I don't have admin rights to change the registry to make it search unknown file types. How can I get around this? Is there a good stand alone search tool I can download?

They are not hidden files. And, this in on Windows 2003 Server. It looks like to speed up search times older versions of windows like 2003 server would only search inside files if the extensions are registered. And you must be admin to edit the registry to change this. So, I am looking for a stand alone program that will do it.

I will try Everything and Agent Ransack today.

Everything doesn't search file contents and Agent Ransack has an installer which does nothing when I run it. I assume because I don't have admin rights to install anything.

So, I am still looking for a free tool to search file contents that doesn't require an installer for Windows 2003 Server. Actually surprised this is so hard to find since the search feature in 2003 is so limited.

Actually I just found grepwinportable that works. It did run a simple installer, but it installed to my desktop. So, not being admin didn't cause a problem.
