I usually search under my username in all the forums to keep up with updated threads, but now I went to do it this evening and the results are no longer sorted by last post

any tips?

I noticed this too, and was just about to post about it.

Hmm... odd that I never had to check that box before this afternoon...

Thanks for the tip though!

It has been that way since the last upgrade.

No it hasn't. It just changed for me today as well.

FYI, just check the box(check tfinch2's first post) and everything will work fine. For some reason the box unchecked all of a sudden. Must have been Updated or something.

I thought this changed many weeks ago with our last "upgrade," after which many of us had to prod Jason into giving us back out date sorted search ("relevancy" my ***, those results aren't relevant when you want the latest updates on something, which I do 99% of the time). Somehow I get it that this "just now changed"; maybe you haven't searched for a few weeks or did so but didn't notice before?

Does your browser automatically fill in forms for you? That's my WAG as to why that would happen, if another upgrade didn't cause it.

I would have thought it was a Cookie issue or something like it on my end, but since it seemed to happen to many at the sametime I kinda nixed that idea.

The search-by-user used to be by date, I never had to check that box before, and I can't seem to remember that box being checked by default before.

As for relevancy, I agree with Provia, relevant my ass.
The first thread I got when searching for my username was a 2 months old thread with very few replies, exactly what algorithm came to the conclusion that that specific thread was somehow relevant?

Nice theory, but I wasn't even quoted in that thread, so any thread with someone quoting me would rate higher, which either means:
a) You're wrong...or
b) Noone ever listens to me. :(

The username search should order by date (if not i'll check ), searches based on keywords by default will not (as per every other search engine known to mankind).

It's mucked up. The box doesn't seem to stay checked, so now Username Searches require clicking the Option box for Order by Date.

I've never used the relevance search before, so I was kinda surprised at what it deemed relevant.
Jason, what is relevance based on exactly? I even end up with different results doing the same search, the thing the results have in common is that the top result is always some old and relatively small thread.

Does the relevance search simply get confused trying to figure out what's relevant to a username or is there something else?

The user search should not be using relevance as stated above (IF you are just searching by username), i will look at it when time permits.

IF you enter a keyword then relevance is used as it should.

Same here - now it seems to be something close to reversed order by date - older threads are showing up first. I searched for posts I made, and the first one was from 2002.

Once I made it to the pages that were from 2005, they seem to be in no particular order at all.
