Search Pane on IE6

Recently when I open the search pane in IE6, it wants to do a download from the search engine I'm using.

What's up with this?

Is it safe to open the downlaod?

For example, when I do a search using the MSN search I get this download request:

File name: spresults.aspx
From search.msn.com

When I do a search with Altavista get this download request:

File name: iepane
From: search.msn.com

Hrmm...sounds like maybe your security settings are wonky, those would appear to be nothing but the results pages, and for some reason IE isn't simply displaying them but is considering them files that it can't view and needs to download.

Try setting IE's security tab back to a default like Medium. If that doesn't help, try reinstalling IE. You can get the installation program from http://www.microsoft.com/ie .

I've never used it, so I don't know what it might have done. If it adjusts IE settings to enhance security, then it may well have disabled something so that it doesn't properly display certain types of pages now.
