Search function - hidden?

I've sent some PM's to Markfw900 asking where the search button is on the forums and he didn't understand my question. Apparently there should be a search button under the page numbers. When I log in there is no search function there or in the drop down list near the location. I'm guessing there is some account specific issue. I've been a member since the pre-fusetalk days, practically from day one, and don't ever remember having any trouble with the account except in migrations. Perhaps I missed one of those migration notices and didn't get my account enabled correctly or something.

I'm trying to search for terms in the forums to see about what has been posted on the topic, but cannot find the actual 'search' button. Am I missing something??

On the right, just under the page numbers (1,2,3, etc) There is a "Search this forum" button.

The message I get when doing most things in the forum is...

MadRat, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

What do I need for getting this resolved?

Hi Madrat,

Markfw900 brought your concerns to our attention yesterday but it took us the evening to figure this one out for you, sorry you did not hear back from us sooner but the overnight timing was not in your favor

We believe we have uncovered the root-cause of the issue. Admin Allisolm did some sleuthing and it appears you never logged into the new VB system since we made the switch from the old forum software.

Thus your account was never "piped over" fully, and when you did log in the system put you into an automated "holding" pattern that was a holdover from the transition period where we had people confirm their emails and so on.

Forum Director esquared has made the necessary changes to your account. Please go ahead and check now to see if you have regained full functionality of your account privileges.

Let us know either way so we can close out the support ticket or continue working on it

I have no idea what "page numbers" you're talking about, but the search button is in the toolbar near the top of the page - the one that says:

allisolm, that was Markfw900's guidance to Madrat and it relates to the "search this forum" link that is located below the "page X of Y" links for a given subforum.

It worked! Thank you, Idontcare and Markfw900. I might have missed a new change. The last changeover I remember was a few years back. What's strange is I've logged on every few months since then and don't remember there ever being a problem.
