Search Conduit and SpyHunter

Hi, so yesterday I got the search conduit malware and I think I removed it, but I also downloaded SpyHunter and I tried uninstalling that but my computer performance is now really slow. On the control panel, it says it is uninstalled but my computer performance is now noticeably slower and Norton Antivirus says Google Chrome has high CPU usage. Is it a Google Chrome problem or is Search Conduit or SpyHunter still on my computer?

Darthpwner,

I don't know the answer but apparently Conduit secretly opens ports to let in other malware. Even after you kill Conduit, any other spyware or other bad programs that it allowed into your computer might still be phoning home. Maybe your slowdown is due to that.

This is speculation.

I'm 75% sure Conduit hitchhiked into my computer with DivXInstaller.exe that I downloaded directly from the DivX web site.

And there seems to be yet another problem with DivX:

I ran a norton antivirus scan and it said adware2 is present on my computer and I had to manually remove it. Perhaps that's causing the problem? Do you know any good adware removers that likely won't give me another virus

You might try the free Kaspersky tools here.
Very powerful.

A lot of people on Anandtech forums recommend the free MalwareBytes, here.

So try either of those, or maybe both.
