SEARCH BUSTED

Set the number of post per page to 100 or something. Search for a thread that has multiple pages.

In the search results, click on the a high page number (i.e. 5 out of 4). Blank page, because the Search function is returning the number of pages based on 50 posts per page.

Fix please? :)

Update:

Right.
Set posts per page to 100, and leave topics per page at 40. Search for a multi-page thread and you'll see that, for instance, a thread with 50 replies is listed as having "Pages: 1 2 Last". Now, set topics per page to 100, and suddenly there's no "Pages:" bit at all.

So, the Search function is basing the number of pages that a thread will take on the number of topics per page rather than the number of posts per page, which is what (hopefully) will fix it.

Fix, please? :)

You can set the amount of posts per page in your profile cant you? In personal options.

If that is what you are talking about....

I've already set that to 100. The Forums, however, appear to be ignoring that value when performing a Search, not when viewing threads.

Something I noticed that may be related. When a multiple page thread comes up in the search results, clicking the Last link never takes me to the last page. It'll take me to page 5 of a 13 page thread, or page 3 of an 8 pager.

Threads with 4-5 pages don't show a Last link at all.

I can't recreate this, the amount of threads per page is exactly what your profile is set to. Write out a complete reproducable case so i can try it.

Okay. I have it set to 40 topics per page.
I search for anything (doesn't matter what, but it needs to be a multi-page thread). In the search results, you get Page numbers next to each Thread link (1, 2, Last). Clicking on Last usually dumps me onto, for example, page 40 out of a 20-page thread.

Once in the thread, clicking the ">>" to move to the "last page" then finally gets me the last page.

Do you need any more info from me? Maybe I need to change something in my profile?
This all started when the Search function was last updated... :)

My problem is similar but instead of taking me beyond the last page of the thread like Phil, I only get around 1/3 the way to the end. I have messages per page set to 40.

Whenever I search and come upon a multi-page thread in the results clicking ">>" only takes me to a page around 1/3 the way through the thread. For example, it'll take me to page 3 of a 6 page thread, page 3 of 8, page 5 of 13 and page 26 of 64. Those are actual results I've recorded.

Threads that are 2 or 3 pages don't even show the 1, 2, Last links.

4 & 5 page threads show the 1, 2 links but no Last page link.

This started happening when Search was updated.

Search for "longest" to get the Minendo nef thread. Click Last to jump to the last page, when you have anything other than the default number of posts per page set. Jumps, for me, to page 78, when there's only 31 pages.

PLEASE fix this, it's such a PITA.

It doesn't do that for me. I'm set for 100 posts per page and when I clicked "Last" it took me to page 35 which is the last page.

I have things set at 60 and clicking last takes me to page 57 which is the last page. I switched to 80 and it takes me to page 42, which is the last page.

The "Last" page thing is now working okay, but even with a thread that has, say, 70 posts, in the Search results it still shows as having multiple pages, which of course it won't if you have >50 posts per page.

I'm not seeing that either.

When I do a search the only threads to show "Pages: 1 2 Last " are the ones with > 100 posts which is what I have my preferences set to.

I get 87, which is a tad too long since I'm set to 100 ppp as well.
Tried on the "*#!@$% ASUS DONT EVER BUY!!!!!!!!!!!" thread in GHW as well, same thing, every thread with >40 posts gets a "Last" page even though it's not there.

The only way I can get 87 pages there is if my messages per page is set to 40. I see no posts per page, only topics per page and messages per page categories and, using IE (if that matters) , they work fine for me - # of pages match # of post or topic selections.

And yet, it's still fvcking broken. :|

Yep, thread listings are fvcking huge, but that doesn't bother me much seeing as my connection is good, so this will do as a fix.
Maybe one day it'll work and I can set it back to 50 or something, but until then...
