I just finished watching this movie and damn I was moved. Sean Penn is just so deep and so good at what he does.

I am a tough guy, and the king of comedy, i can make fun of anything.. but this, I've never cried because of a movie before, and sh!t, its been a good 5-6 years since I've cried.

His best role by far is that bleeding-heart celebrity who sympathized with Saddam...very convincing...

How is a mentally handicapped person going to raise a normal child by himself?

John Lennon may have said "All you need is Love", but that is a load of crap...

For some reason some of the best acting performances are those done as handicapped people.

Yeah I know! Ed Norton in The Score, was really good. Anyway yeah the movie was very touching but I cry at any movie with sadness *tear*.

why do people think that everyone deserves an oscar for "playing a retard"?

If the mentally handicapped can handle the role everyday, it should be too hard for a normal person to handle....

(am I going to hell?)

Why should anyone get an Oscar for playing the role of a cop or a writer or a pianist or anything like that? People do that stuff every day, too. Doesn't make the actor's performance any less valid.

Ah yes, I remember watching that when it came out...very powerful movie, but it was a difficult year for the Best Actor category. Good soundtrack, as someone's mentioned...all in all, one of the best dramas of the year.

So freakin sad. :)

No, you're not going to hell. Retards probably get spared by God.

Am I not allowed to criticize him?

I think what you said is a little harsh/moronic.

I am anti-war, but even if I had the means, I'd NEVER go to Iraq and express my support for their regime!! :|
