I'm setting up a new Dell and get a Win.32/Varpes.Jplock virus warning from Windows Defender from Official site:

Can anyone confirm?

If that checks out, I'd assume false positive.

If that checks out, I'd assume false positive.

If someone had the means to put a malicious payload into the binary and put it on the the official download page they could certainly put thie malicious packages' checksums up too. That's exactly what happened with the Linux Mint iso's last month.
