Great. I'm using Mozilla 1.7.12 and am looking forward to the final release of SeaMonkey.

Beta is feature-complete and based on the same engine as the shipping version of Firefox 1.5, so it should be very stable, if that's your concern.

Thanks, downloading now.

A few questions:

1.
Is the name 'SeaMonkey' going to be the final name? I thought it was supposed to change when SeaMonkey began a while back.

2.
SeaMonkey is using the same profile as Mozilla suite, right? Is it safe to use the same profile as mozilla?
That is, if today i decide to browse using SeaMonkey, and tomorrow I decide to go back to Mozilla Suite, can I do that without doing lots of changes?

(yah, i know it's safer to create different profiles, but i wanted to venture)

3.
Are extensions from mozilla suite compatible with SeaMonkey? or do we have to wait for the updated versions?

No, I've already tried some beta versions of it but if the final will be released in January, that's not very far away and I can wait. Thanks for the reply.

edit: Oh what the heck, I am now using 1.0b. Looks great.

Still using it. No problems.

It changed from Mozilla to SeaMonkey. SeaMonkey had been its internal name (I guess you could call it a "codename") for years though.

I believe it's safe. I heard one user mention problems with opening bookmark groups in tabs, but it hasn't been confirmed. Back up your bookmarks just in case there is a problem.

It would depend on the extension. I don't know if version checks are enforced with SeaMonkey, so you could try them. It's just a bit hard to uninstall them if they don't work.
