seamless LCD screen set up

Hello all,

I have been asked to see if there is a possibility of putting together 5 LCD screen (15"-17")
in a formation so that there is no space, no bezel, no break whatsoever between the screens.

This would mean that when laid out horizontally, the 5 screens would be able to play one video simultaneously, and not have the visual have any breaks in the middle due to a bezel or a space.

I am wondering if anyone can point me to a company that does this, or perhaps you have some ideas as to how this can be done. I would love to hear any and all ideas. My boss has been riding my ass to get this sorted out.

You can't do it without "breaks". Just get a projector if you want a big picture.

Maybe this, but you'd still have the "breaks".

I need it to be LCDs because they are being put up at an office and I don't ave the space to work with a projector. Is there really now way to do this?

We've sent people to the moon, and we can't make an LCD setup with no interruptions in the screen surface.. the world just keeps getting more interesting everyday.

If you ask 100 times, the answer will still be "no"...
Currently you can't sync up multiple LCD monitors without having "breaks".

Tell your boss the NEC LCD5710 is the best you can do.

Tell him you can't find him a TRANSPORTER either, he'll have to walk, ride or drive to his destinations. :laugh:

There are large screen displays on the market. Obviously the very large ones, such as the ones found in sports arenas or advertising displays are way too large for your needs. Smaller ones exist (often made to size for customer) such as these. Bring your checkbook.

as said, dlp is used for such things.
question is why can't you just use a 30" instead of a couple 15"

The whole point is that his boss demands LCDs sync'd without frames.

can it be done? Yes, yes it can be. Is it being done? No, its not. Will it be done? Probably not.

Why aren't you going to see a way to seamlessly connect LCDs in the near future, because there is little demand for it. Thats all. If everyone and their dog wanted this then we would see lots of options, but since 99% of people are fine with a single screen, we wont see it for a long time.

The image area on LCD screens don't span all the way to the edge.
The OPs original request was...
"I am wondering if anyone can point me to a company that does this, or perhaps you have some ideas as to how this can be done."

His boss isn't interested in funding research into designing a new type of LCD display, he wants it done now.


BTW mduzair, you should begin your job search. Because you won't be able to pull this one off for your boss.

This is kind of impossible, you know. Like "you would have to rip apart the monitor and attach the very LCD screen with no guarantee that either would survive" impossible.

yup to keep the dot pitch between lcd panel ajacent pixels equivalent to the rest....basically impossible.

I dont understant how you want to put together 5 screens as one screen?

Typically you can purchase 1 video card with 4 video outputs, but 5 may be a little harder and would have to be custom built. Can it be done? Yes. Is it cheap? No. I think clearview with no frames still requires a 3/16" gap.

Try asking for a quote?? That way you can have an idea of costs. I think typically they like to build 2X, 4X, 6X, 8X, 9X (3 X 3)

Actually it can be done and has been done. Don't waste your money on the 15k radius320. A friend of mine and I created our own. You need the right monitors to do this since alot of lcds can't do it even after you take the frame off. I am doing it again once I find the right 25" monitors I want to use. I will be doing this next month, will record it all and put the instructions on youtube. I have looked all over the web trying to find help on this and only find companies trying to rip people off. I will post an update here.

i am also interested doing it myself with four or nine or even sixteen 19" or 20" lcd screens. i need to display a slide show of digital stills with resolutions ranging from 2048x1536 to 3264x2448, but i don't like the grid appearance of the frames. i can't believe nobody is manufacturing seamless lcd screens. i am sure there is a market for it. curious to learn about your experience using 25" monitors and taking the frames off...
