Seagate Thunderbolt to SSD adapter - drive choice?

I've seen a bunch of posts where people are using a Seagate GoFlex thunderbolt adapter to plug in SSDs in a Mac on OSX. Here are some:

Does anyone have any recommendations as far as SSD models or brands for use on OSX?

Do I need one with TRIM support or is that a thing of the past now?
If so, do I need to tell OSX to run TRIM operations somehow?

Is SSD firmware updating on OSX a consideration?

Thanks for any advice!

Mac OS X still only supports TRIM on Apple OEM SSDs by default. So you'd need to run Trim Enabler to get TRIM on anything else.

Once TRIM is enabled, you don't need to do anything else. The OS will periodically issue TRIM commands on its own.

And while SSD firmware updates are sometimes helpful, it's thankfully not something that's frequently done these days. So it's not critical you need to be able to update your SSD's firmware, though having the means to do so is not a bad idea.
