Does anybody know for sure if the Seagate TapeStor Travan tape drive(STT220000A-RFT) is fully supported by Windows XP? This tape drive is on the Microsoft HCL as being Windows Logo Program 2.0 Compliant on Windows XP, and the HCL says to contact the manufacturer for drivers. Seagate's web site doesn't have any XP drivers for this tape drive. Thanks for any info you can give me.

I'm sure it'll work as a standard if not recognized piece of hardware. The trouble might be getting the BackupExec software to work correctly. Not sure on that, though.

Typically, the backup software will have the drivers needed to run the drive, so you should check there. What software came with the drive and/or what will you be using?

staver, I had planned on using the backup software that comes with Windows XP Pro to do backups with this Seagate TapeStor Travan tape drive. This is a retail kit so it comes with Veritas Backup Exec, but I don't know what version since I don't have the drive yet. This is for a machine that I'm building later this week.

You will find that the retail software has features MSbackup does not have. MSBackup should work fine if it is supported. Some tape drives do not require a driver to be recognized. I'm sure the software that comes bundled with the drive will be the latest version.
