Hi

The kids computer recently crashed, and soon enough figured out it was their old seagate barracuda 20 gig harddrive. I called in Seagate and asked for RMA. I have sent in the drive. Know since the drive has been discontinued for a while know, will I get the exact same drive, as in gigabytes?

Thanks

Last time I had to RMA a hard drive, Maxtor sent a different one as a replacement. Slightly higher capacity.

Seagate will ship you a refurbished drive which will (or should) be comparable or better than the one you returned.

From Seagate's own site:

"If you return your drive to Seagate, your original drive will NOT be returned, and all data and software on your drive will be lost. You will be sent a factory repaired replacement drive."

I returned a 300G ATA drive earlier this year, and I suppose they were out of 300G replacement drives at the time as I got a 400G replacement as well as a newer model.

Your mileage may vary.
