Newegg claims these still have a 3 year warranty. If so, that's pretty good!

Anyone run hybrid drives in a RAID configuration? Any drawbacks or issues (RAID 0, 1 or 5)?

They are getting rid of the older version because there's a 500GB SATA 6.0 with 8GB SDD version .

Hm that could be perfect for my laptop since it needs a new HD at some point. It keeps remapping bad sectors, up to 83 last I checked.

I personally think it would not work correctly with RAID setup.

It should work just fine. AFAIK the caching works on a firmware level based on what it detects for access. Worst case scenario is that it works like any other 7200RPM drive.

Wow, you need a drive STAT! $50 is almost as cheap as you can go, so may as well.

Haha yeah I know, but it has almost become a game to see how many remapped sectors it can get before the drive just totally quits :p Twice in the last few months I've had to run seatools to force a sector remap as the laptop stopped booting.

Hmmm tempting but nobody answered the power question, does it lower battery life dramatically?

A pure SSD would, but not very dramatically, this is a hybrid so no it would be like any other rotational drive.

I ordered one too. Tired of the WD Blue drive vibrating my Prodigy case. Thanks OP

Have had one of these for about a year, put it in an older laptop. It works very well and it HAS increased the battery life some at least. May just be a more efficient HD than the old one??? It sure added some liveliness to the old laptop. Great buy at $50.

Have one in my desktop and it works fine with Windows 7. Definitely not a magical increase but some things are a bit quicker--when it's pounding the hard drive though, remember it is a 7200 rpm laptop drive.

Have one in my laptop for a yr now.
Great drive. Fast, if I use a regular set of applications over and over... (office, browser, etc...) Boots fast once the SSD-portion is trained to your habits

I've had this drive for ~1.5 years. It's been great for me too. Though I've been waiting for the 750gb with bigger cache to drop a lot lower.
