any opinions/comments on these?

a little wary of buying the Scorpio because it is brand new...essentially making me a guinea pig;)....but at the same time ~20$ cheaper than the Seagate in Canada.

They are both relatively similar performance-wise, but the Segate has a 5yr. warranty vs. 1-3yr (depending on where you buy it) on the WD.

Both companies are relatively new to the portable market. So, I doubt anyone here has experience with both of the above products to be able to give a useful opinion. The only review I've seen containing both drives was at THG, and the benchmark suite left something to be desired. The tests that were run didn't really show anything conclusive except that the 7200RPM Hitachi unsurprisingly had a good size lead in practically everything. Given a choice, I'd choose neither, and go with Hitachi (5400RPM if you can't afford the 7200RPM) who has an established track record for mobile drives.

I'm wondering if anyone else out there bought a Scorpio.
I recently got a WD800VE from Dell.
I just installed the drive, I think it's pretty fast and quiet compared to the 4200RPM.
Anyway, there is this...kind of like knocking (or clicking) noise coming out of it from time to time.
Does anyone know what can that be?
I hope it's not a faulty drive.
