Seagate HDD failure

I?ve always gone with WD for my HDD?s but this time around I went with Seagate, don?t ask me why. But it bit me in the ass. After about 30 days of use it decided that it didn?t want the BIOS recognizing it anymore. Same deal with my other computer. I?ve tried using SeaTools to find the drive, no go. The drive still spins up but other than that nothing. Is anything else worth a try at this point?

Thankfully Newegg will refund me for the drive, even after their 30 day return policy on HDDs. I just purchased 2 WD 500GB SATA 32MB Cache drives (RAID 1) to replace this Seagate drive.

Well that sucks but.... Seagate is great. Ive used them for past 10 years and cant complain.... its just bad luck. Id use Seagate way before WD. Ive had way more WD's go bad than seagates.....

Anyways, I dont see why Newegg would refund you either. Its not their fault. Thats what RMA is for. If its over 30 days, I guess you can try?

I week earlier my boss's hdd (seagate) bit the dust as well. It is luck, I guess my luck is with WD. I was shocked when Newegg was like sure we will issue an RMA, refund you and you can purchase whatever you want. But in terms of data recovery i'm at a loss?

I feel your pain Anthony, Bought 2 Seagates this year and all need to be RMA'ed. Will be the last time I use them in any customer builds are for personal use. WD drives have always been rock solid. This last drive I had was a 1.5tb ext and it started to die less than 4 weeks after buying. So after dropping that cash they will send me a refurb. Sigh. Best thing ito do in the future is talk with your cash.
