Seagate HD Model Number st3200822a-rk

Ive found soemone selling a 200gb PATA hard drive on the FS forums here on AT.

Its a Seagate 8mb, 7200rpm

I heard some rumblings about certain seagate models having issues. Can anyone tell me if this is one of those drives?

Should I pay a little extra and get the 16mb? Does it make that much difference, and if so, in what respect? I plan to use this HD in a PC which is mostly used for either watching torrents or burning DVD's and browsing the 'net. Nothing too intensive.

Any opinions are appreciated.

PS: I am getting the drive (new, boxed) for $75 in Amazon GC... Is this a decent price? I would assume so, CC is selling it for $150.

That's the Seagate 7200.7 Plus drive. Good n quiet unit. CompUSA has a sale on those last month for $50 AR. This drive should be more reliable than the 7200.8. The 16MB should not make any difference with normal use.

the 7200.7 series is excelent. 7200.8 had more issues, 7200.9 is better but not around long enough to tell how much better than the 7200.8. That drive looks fine.

I've got 2 7200.8 drives and have had no problems with either. One is a 300GB PATA and the other is a 200GB PATA. They run 24/7 in my server and my living room DirecTv TiVo (it's hacked)
