Down to 1 year certainly on the 500GB 3.5" SATA model, probably for all of their range except retail/XT/hybrid versions.

Congratulations Seagate, I won't be buying those any more, as Samsung/WD still do three-year warranties.

WD Green and Blue drives are two years, but their Black and Raptor drives are still 5 years.

WD does not offer ANY hard drives with three year warranty.

Also over he years i have found that either a hard drive will die right away within months or last for years anyways. So a 1 year warranty is not a huge deal.

I'm darn glad the WD20EARS has at least a 2-year warranty. One of them dropped out of my RAIDZ array just after one year passed. Seeing it had bad sectors, I decided to RMA it.

It's too bad warranties are so short now. I have a Maxtor external HDD that's still under warranty. 5-year warranty FTW!

I think all computer parts should have a mandatory 3 year guarantee. If they dont ask them why they dont stand behind their product in sarcastic a manner as possible. They deserve what they get.

every single seagate i have purchased only lasts a few months tops. seagate was probably losing money constantly replacing their drives. you would think they'd just work on their quality control.
