Seagate Hard Disk Woes

I just got a Seagate 160 GB hard drive, and have been using it as storage for my system lately. However, today I tried to install Windows XP, but when it rebooted after the initial install, it prompted me with the error message, "Error loading operating system".

Hmm . . .

I tried Mandrake 10.1 next, and after the install was done, I had the same error.

I would hate to have to RMA my new hard drive, but does anyone know of anything else I could do?

Use a Linux app to write 0's to it.
Use a different power plug to the drive.
Make sure it's listed correctly in the BIOS.
Install OS.

I had same problem with my 200gb Seagate. Format or format/mbr didn't cut it.
You can get the apps you need from a free ultimate boot cd.
ubcd from sourceforge
