Seagate GoFlex Desk vs FreeAgent Xtreme?

So under RMA I'm receiving either a GoFlex Desk 1TB drive or a FreeAgent Xtreme 1.5TB drive (they sent me both by accident, so I'll return one of them). It's replacing an old FreeAgent Pro 750GB drive.

Which would you guys choose to keep? Obviously more space is better, especially when it's 500GB more space, but I'm not sure I really need that much to begin with (although, eventually I might).

Any compelling reasons why I should pick one drive over another? My first thought is to get the GoFlex because it's newer, so it should be better and more reliable, but it's at the cost of a smaller drive.

Also, this is actually the second set of drives they sent me. They originally sent a FreeAgent Xtreme 1TB drive as a replacement, but it was DOA.

Connectivity is a consideration. Do you have USB 3.0, Firewire 800, or eSATA available? If so, which one? The 1.5TB drive has eSATA and the 1TB has USB 3.0 and FW800.

With high speed access you will likely notice the 1TB slowing down sooner than the 1.5TB drive as capacity gets filled. However, if you plan to use USB 2.0 or Firewire 400 there will be minimal difference because the drives will be I/O limited.

1.5TB FreeAgent Xtreme is not viewed favorably by other users.

Yeah, the overly bad reviews are leaning me towards the GoFlex Desk, which sounds more favorable. Honestly read/write speeds aren't hugely important, as it will be basically only used for automated backups. I have a WD My Book Live that I use for media.
