Seagate 'Cuda V - 2mb or 8mb?

My Maxtor has begun to emit a strange high pitch noise while idle. Being easy irritated by those type of sounds around the PC, I'm now gonna have to replace it... This is the second Maxtor that has done this to me so i have no intentions of RMA'ing it.

My other HD is a 40gb 'Cuda IV and it's been rock solid and quiet as hell since the first day installed it (over a year ago).

So to elaborate on my initial question: How do the 2mb and 8mb versions of the Seagate Barracuda V (120gb, to be even more specific) compare in noise levels? I'm not too concerned about speed as the old 2mb 'Cuda IV i have now has been more than enough in terms of speed.

<-- eagerly awaits mountain of responses, lol :)

they're around the same...this is because the size of the buffer doesn't affect the motor

So i guess I'm really better off with the 8mb then? I wouldn't mind spending a little extra for a bit more speed, but my theory before was why mess with a good thing. (ie, sticking with the 2mb version). If it's virtually all the same with a larger buffer then i think i may "upgrade".
