Seagate Barracuda IV got spanked!!! at least from the storagereview.com pre-review...

I just checked out the charts of the Seagate Barracuda IV from storagereview.com and it got destroyed by the IBM 60GXP and the WD1000BB. In fact, there's not a drive better than the WD1000BB according to their database...

Anyway, gotta wait 'til they finish up the write up to get their subjective views of the drive such as heat and noise... (I don't think they use actual probes to measure these quantitatively (big word!))

The Barracuda IV is not the ultimate IDE HDD that I thought it was going to be. I guess that fact that it runs so silently is nice, but adding a hard drive cooler to your system will silence just about any IDE HDD.
