Seagate Backup won't delete data

I have a gent's PC and ext. HDD.

The ext. HDD has protected the files. I removed Read-Only status, but they still can't delete.
And I can't install seagate's software onto mini XP.

How do I delete files to make room for new ones?
 
Spoke too soon.

It deletes Some files.

Others still make it hang.

And I went to my real XP partition, installed the software and XP is incapable of deleting.

Now what!?
 
Is there anything you DON'T want to delete? If so, copy them to other media and format the drive. All will be deleted.
