Ok, so I came back from work yesterday and my computer was frozen. I rebooted to a BSOD that kept rebooting the computer over and over. I needed a fresh install anyway so I just Knoppix'd into my drives, pulled some stuff off, and reformated with XP.

Recently it froze up AGAIN on me. It did it while I was at class. I came back to a black screen (I have power options set to shut off monitor). I could hear the hardware running but could not get the screen to show anything. Reboot.

Then I was perusing my e-mail and it straight up froze again. This time the Seagate drive was beeping about every 2 seconds. Anyone know what the heck this is? It's well under warranty, I just don't want to be without a system drive for weeks.

Well if the drive is failing there is not much you can do. Download the Seagate Seatools and run the testes on it to see if it is that, which sound that it could be. and do an advanced rma(usually have to give credit card) and they will send a drive first and then you send your defective on back. CC is for if you dont send the old back

Contact Seagate support and they will for $24.95 send you a replacement drive. Normaly a quick turnaround . Then you can send the old drive back in that box. I just sent one back but I am in no hurry so sent mine first.
