Seems to be a rather large shift in a lot of SSD prices all coming down at once over the past 2 months or so. Hoping this trend continues as aggressively for a little while longer so I can justify more SSD's!

Yes ssd's prices keep going down. speed is amazing on SSD's, once you use them its hard going back to HDD's. however still no guarantee that you wont lose your files n data on a SSD.
Good deal btw

Yes, fortunately there IS a guarantee that you won't lose your files and data with a conventional hard drive. NOT!

Well one draw for conventional mechanical drives is that if the controller has a big failure or the spindle breaks down, etc. even though costly a drive recovery lab can almost always rip the data off the platters for usage again. SSD's on the other hand have the nasty problem of a finite lifespan so physical deterioration might make that kind of recovery impossible. Also not sure how well an SSD would play with someone swapping the controller board on it with an or a near identical one for the sake of data recovery, since mechanical drives work like that all the time.

Anyone willing to spend thousands for clean-room drive recovery really should invest in cloud backup and a $100 external USB drive, along with RAID-1 for a desktop.

But back on topic, it's very nice to see these big drives at 0.50 / GB.

how reliable is it? i have really bad experience with ssds
Really? That's odd. My first SSD is old, like 2 years, use it for Windows and no problems. My second SSD is like 1 year old, for data, no problems either. And I always go for price over quality :)

yep, i had crucial m4, bought new and died after 7 months, then sent it on RMA, received refurbished and died again within only 2 weeks of use, i've lost all my data.

Do your lights flicker a lot? Do you have a good PSU? Is your PC on a UPS?

Many SSDs don't have power loss protection, but other than that or running a drive hammering application 24x7 your case is not normal.

Still, if you have been cursed by the storage gods then perhaps platters are all that are left to you.

I have 4 SSDs. No issues whatsoever over the last 18 months. I've also built 2 other systems for friends with SSDs. No issues for them either.

$0.48 per GB is good enough for me, thanks in for 1.

Just got mine in today, installed in about 3 minutes and had it initialized and formatted a few minutes after that. 447GB when all is said and done is available to the end user.

I have a 240GB Kingston Hyperx 3k SSD as the Boot drive and another 240GB hyperx 3k SSD as my primary storage SSD.

I might transfer the boot drive over to the new SSD, then replace the HDDs in my PS3 and PS4 with the two 240GB drives... hmmm idk

Either way I have plenty of SSD storage to last me a good long while.
